Earthlink and SK Telecom bring Wi-Fi and 3G

Earthlink and SK Telecom (South Korea) have entered into a partnership to bring integrated 3G and Wi-Fi service to US customers (see Om Malik’s blog). While a number of mobile operators such as T-Mobile offer Wi-Fi subscriptions to their customers, no one has managed to integrate a cellular voice/data service with Wi-Fi.Earthlink and SK Telecom (South Korea) have entered into a partnership to bring integrated 3G and Wi-Fi service to US customers (see Om Malik’s blog). It’s interesting to note that Earthlink has plans to roll out a national WiMAX service and SK Telecom is busy rolling out WiBro in South Korea (see Daily Wireless). At some point, the joint venture will market 3G/Wi-Fi devices. The companies have not announced any date for the launch of 3G/Wi-Fi service.
