Long Beach, CA issues RFP for citywide wireless network

Long Beach, California has issued an RFP for a citywide Wi-Fi network. Long Beach was one of the first cities to deploy a large Wi-Fi hotzone and now they want citywide coverage. They are looking for a vendor to build, own and manage the network under a non-exclusive franchise agreement. They are looking for a vendor to build, own and manage the network under a non-exclusive franchise agreement. The city wants a share of the gross revenues for providing access to city property. The winning bidder must deliver free service in certain areas (parks, redevelopment zones, etc.). The deadline for responding to the RFP is 27 February 2006.

The City will respond to all written questions by issuing a written addendum, which will be published on the Bids On Line website.
