Muni advocate and WLAN entrepreneur recognized in Maryland

(AWLAN) of Rockville , Maryland, is proud to announce that the company’s President and CEO, Mr. Jonathan Walker, Sr., P.E. , has been selected to receive the prestigious Top 100 Minority Business Enterprise Award. The University of Maryland University College, the Governor’s Office of Minority Affairs (GOMA) and The Maryland Chamber of Commerce notified Mr. Walker of his selection earlier this week. This program is designed to salute the region’s best minority and women business owners and to highlight their achievements.

Mr. Walker is an active citizen of Montgomery County and The City of Rockville as a board member of Montgomery Community TV, Montgomery County Interagency Coordinating Board for Community Use of Public Facilities, Rockville Community Network, and the Rockville Scholarship Foundation. Likewise, Jonathan is a recent graduate of Leadership Greater Washington (`06) and Leadership Montgomery (`05) which brings together current and emerging leaders to make the Washington, DC metropolitan area a better place to live/work through a diverse group of informed community trustees who create collaborations and partnership.

Founded in 2001, AWLAN specializes in research/development (R&D), installation, and maintenance of Wireless Networks (i.e., Wi-Fi/WiMax) with a specialty in free and/or fee based IEEE 802 high speed Internet access for PDAs, laptops, and mobile users.
