Wellington, NZ rolls out free WiFi for Rugby World Cup

Fans heading to Wellington, New Zealand for the Rugby World Cup will find free Wi-Fi service in many parts of the city. Among the areas of coverage are Waitangi Park and Courtenay Place all the way to the Westpac Stadium and up Cuba Street, the Zoo, Zealandia, the Cable Car and Carter Observatory. According to the New Zealand Herald, “some of the costs would be offset by sponsorship, but the council will fund the free network at a cost of $80,000 and then $216,000 per year. When it is up and running, users will be disconnected after half an hour and can then reconnect.”
