Free outdoor Wi-Fi coming to Seoul

Seoul, South Korea will soon enjoy free Wi-Fi in outdoor areas such as public parks and streets, thanks to a partnership between the city and three local wireless operators. The project will cost the operators US$44 million and make Wi-Fi available in over 10,000 parks and on nearly every street corner. In addition, the Seoul metro and public buses will get Wi-Fi service by the end of the year.

  1. Cool news. As is, you can sign up for wireless service for around $8 per month that covers most parts of Seoul, but the fact that this will be available to residents and tourists alike is great. Hopefully other big cities will follow suit!
